A tram carriage full of passengers drifts on the water, a great steamship behind it in the moonlight. A woman stands on a jetty at the right; the roofs of a sunken city show beneath the surface.

The Last Stop

A tram drifts across the water although its line should long since have ended. A ship appears behind it, while beneath the surface a sunken city goes on existing. The familiar logic of the world is suspended — exactly as in a dream. “The Last Stop” is about situations in which a supposed ending suddenly becomes a passage. The waiting woman observes a reality beyond her control. The work asks what happens when a road carries on although we believed we had already arrived.
