A night-blue dream city: at the left a steam locomotive with glass display cases, melting clocks and clowns. At the centre a house whose red frame holds a blindfolded figure, from whom luminous threads stream down into glass cubes full of gears. At the upper right a violinist flies over the roofs trailing staves of music; at the right two girls in red and blue, a goat's head and a rose growing out of the water.

The Invisible Threads

In this picture everything seems bound to everything else, although the individual scenes at first appear unconnected. Clocks, houses, people, music and fragments of memory form a complex web of past, present and inner perception. At the centre sits a woman with bandaged eyes while luminous lines grow out of her body into the space around her. She cannot see, and yet she seems joined to everything. The music of the floating violinist becomes an invisible force flowing through the different levels of this dream world. Personal figures and familiar symbols meet fantastical beings and impossible situations. What arises is a world in which it is not the visible that matters but the hidden relationships. The work tells us that some connections become perceptible only when we stop seeing with the eyes alone.
