A luminous picture in yellows, greens and browns whose short vertical strokes suggest reeds and reflected water. A darker, shore-like or rocky zone stands at the left; at the right a few slender stems rise with cone-shaped heads. The lower half of the picture reads as a reflection of the upper.

The Place No One Knows

Sometimes we dream of places we have never been, and recognise them at once all the same.

Behind the dark forms a light opens. Something seems to stand in the distance. Perhaps a city. Perhaps a gate. Perhaps only a memory that has dressed itself as a landscape.

Strange figures wait at the edge. They do not move. They do not seem to come closer. And still the feeling arises that they know why we are here.

Perhaps the way leads into the light. Perhaps it leads back. Or perhaps this is one of those places that exist only for a brief moment between dream and waking.

The real question is not where this place lies. It is why it seems familiar to you.
