A woman formed of water and light rises from a counter; an elderly figure in a red-brown robe reaches towards her from the right. Fruit and vegetables pile up in the foreground, a half-timbered house stands behind.

Born of Water

A female figure rises out of water and light as though she were coming into being at this very moment. Her body has no fixed boundary and seems to move between matter and energy. The world around her stays solid while she already belongs to another reality. Fruit and vegetables in the foreground stand for life, growth and bodily existence. The scene thus joins the everyday to the transcendent. “Born of Water” speaks of renewal and of the possibility of bringing forth a new form of oneself.
